The rules of taxation for buying and selling property are different for newly built and existing property. There are also differences to consider between property held at the corporate and at the personal level.

If you are looking to buy newly built property, we can structure the transaction at the corporate level for you so that the 19% VAT on newly built property does not apply.

A sale of existing property at the personal level is not taxed if the value of the transaction does not exceed 450000 RON. For properties with a higher transaction value a real estate transfer tax of 3% is applicable for the value exceeding the aforementioned 450000 RON. There are ways to structure a transaction so that no real estate transfer tax applies.
